題  目：Introduction to K-theory and index theory

内容簡介：Vector bundles and sections of vector bundles play important roles in many areas of mathematics and physics. Motivated by ideas from Grothendieck, Atiyah-Hirzebruch introduced topological K-theory which is a generalized cohomology theory (more natural and powerful than the ordinary cohomology theory). It was applied in the fifirst proof of Atiyah-Singer index theorem for elliptic operators in 1960s. Due to its appearance in quantum fifield theory and string theory, there has been renewed interest in K-theory and various generalizations. In this course, we will give a brief introduction to topological K-theory and study some of its classic applications, including the fifirst proof Atiyah-Singer index theorem.

報告人簡介：Bai-Ling Wang 教授現任職于澳大利亞國立大學數學研究所，長期從事規範場論、K理論、指标理論、辛幾何及數學物理的研究，是該領域國際著名的學者。他研究的課題涉及：（1）奇異空間的微分幾何與拓撲，包括局部指标理論和高階指标理論，量子 K-理論等；（2）數學物理中拓撲和微分量子場論、開弦的 D-膜理論等；（3）等變Gromov-Witten理論等。他曾在《Advances in Mathematics》、《Transactions of the AMS》、《Communications in Mathematical Physics》、《Journal of Differential Geometry》等一流數學期刊上發表論文多篇。他曾連續多年在澳國立大學講授K-理論、指标理論、辛幾何、Yang-Mills規範理論等高等研究課程，深受學生歡迎。
